Sixty ladies from across the globe got together at St Albans Hall, dined on home made dishes, partook in a quiz and raffle.
After October's success of Tank Shed Day, it was decided to hold a second tank shed day - this time during half term, and the event was opened up to adults and (accompanied) children.
Another ‘sell-out’ DAFFYS event for Christmas on 17th December 2012!
The annual DAFFYS Children's Christmas Party was held in Kitchener Hall of the Defence Academy on Sunday 16 December attended by 200 adults and children.
On Thursday, 20th November, over 30 of us gathered together in the Watchfield Room in Kitchener Hall for the DAFFYS Christmas Wine Tasting evening.
The annual DAFFYS Christmas Bazaar is always one of our biggest events in the year and an important fund raiser of DAFFYS. This year it was held on 28th November and led by Tara Gould who did a wonderful job organising over 70 stalls who sold their goods to people from across the Defence Academy.
To begin the festive Christmas season, on November 30 two DAFFYS ladies (Claire Calder and Sheila Russell) introduced a group of approximately 35 international women to some fun, interesting, and beautiful British Christmas traditions.
The annual DAFFYS Children’s Halloween Party held on 31st Oct did not disappoint.
‘A DAFFYS DELIGHT’ – the Tank Shed visit is hailed as one of the best days out in the DAFFY’S calendar by many, and this year’s visit did not disappoint! It was a great opportunity for us to get a flavour of what ‘the boys and girls’ get up to at this fascinating hands-on, interactive morning.
The first DAFFYS social night of the new academic year took place on 19 September.
The Tour of the Defence Academy was scheduled on 26th September 2012. The aim was to familiarise the families with all that was there inside the Academy. Around 25 of us gathered at the Shrivenham gate for the tour eager to have a look around the campus.
DAFFYS Coffee Mornings continue to run on the first Thursday of each month throughout the term, from 10am to 12noon.
We were very lucky to have beautiful weather for the Defence Academy‘s Diamond Jubilee Bake-Off and Tea Party on the field outside Kitchener Hall on Sunday 27th May 2012.
Our last Ladies Lunch of the term in June took the form of a Fancy Shoes Friday & Silver Room Visit in the JSCSC.
The food was exceptional at the recent Ladies Bring A Dish and Bunco Night on 16th May.

At the end of March the long awaited DAFFYS TANK SHED DAY took place. This was the opportunity to get ‘up close & personal’ with all the ‘big kit’ in the Defence Capability Centre (DCC). Prachi Jatania, wife of Lt Cdr Digvijay Sodha, Indian Navy has kindly written some words about the day –
It was with great excitement that 38 children and 18 half-term weary adults boarded the coach at Watchfield for the DAFFYS' half term trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park.
DAFFFY’s hosted a Royal Wedding Families Social at the end of April, with the help of the JSCSC Mess.
We were very lucky to have beautiful weather for our Easter Egg Hunt outside Kitchener Hall on Easter Monday.
On Wednesday 9th March the ever popular ‘Bring a dish night’ took on the form of a traditional Bingo evening.

The Museum Trip to Oxford on Wednesday 23 February 2011 was a very popular event filling the 53 seater coach, which collected us from Watchfield and dropped us off outside the Ashmolean Museum.
