Defence Academy Language Centre Students visit Victoria and Albert Museum, London

On Tue 2 Mar Students from the Defence Academy Language Centre were given the opportunity to take a field trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Staff at the Centre felt that a visit to what is one of London's finest museums would not only be of great interest to the students, but would also prove to be beneficial for their studies in English Language.

The Victoria and Albert Museum is the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 4.5 million objects. Named after Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert it was founded in 1852, and has since grown to now cover some 12.5 acres with 145 different galleries. Its collection spans 5000 years of art, from ancient times to the present day, with paintings, sculpture, jewelry, fashion and design from the cultures of Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and North America.  The ladies, from 20 different nations spent several hours in the museum, enjoying guided and personal tours of the thousands of exhibits including many from their own nations. 

The Defence Academy Language Centre offers English as a foreign Language to the families of International officers attending courses at the Defence Academy, and also provides tuition in other languages to families across the entire Shrivenham Station Site
