The Defence Academy Language Centre celebrated Graduation Day on Fri 1 Jul 11 with a record number of successful candidates.

The ceremony was attended by students and their families, and the students who had studied English for a full academic year were presented with their diplomas by Maj Nicholle Dunlop on behalf of the Station CO who congratulated them on their hard work and academic achievements. Many recipients of the Defence Academy Language Diplomas, spouses of students at the Defence Academy, spoke little or no English when they arrived and ended their academic year with complete fluency.
Maj Dunlop also presented certificates in English Language awarded to Advanced Level students from the Cambridge University Examination Board, and this year the Centre had a 100% pass rate.
The Defence Academy Language Centre offers English as a foreign Language to the families of International officers attending courses at the Defence Academy, and also provides tuition in other languages to families across the entire Shrivenham Station. The Centre opens again after its summer break w/c 12 Sep, running English Language Classes every weekday morning, including Muslim Ladies classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and French, Spanish and Italian classes in the evening.
For information on courses run by the Language Centre, contact the Language Centre Administrator, Patricia Bowes on 01793 784881 or Judy Clarke (International Liaison) on 01793 788041. Alternatively complete the application form.
