Business Skills

We provide opportunities for people in defence to learn quickly the skills that they need to perform their business tasks effectively. Our courses cover core and functional competences and many of the mandatory awareness level courses such as Health & Safety and Equality & Diversity. Our training is funded centrally for MOD civil servants and members of the Armed Forces (excluding those in Trading Funds and agencies) and is therefore at no cost to the entitled user.

Subject areas include:

  • Performance improvement
  • Core management
  • Core leadership
  • Finance and Resource management

We have established numerous modules to help develop all Service personnel and civil servants in the MOD in order to build their careers and enhance their management skills and personal effectiveness.

We have centres in London, Bath, Glasgow, Shrivenham and Portsmouth, and an extensive network of Satellite Centres.  200+ plus e-learning courses are also accessible in Defence Electronic Learning Centres and via the Defence Learning Portal available at the desktop to all RLI users.

The College is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, the Institute of Customer Service and the Institute of Leadership and Management.
