Barrington Library
There has been a library at Shrivenham since 1946 providing services to the Royal Military College of Science and subsequently to the College of Management and Technology. The library service has been provided by Cranfield University since 1984.
Barrington Library provides a substantial collection of material and subject specialist advice for the areas of management, leadership, defence acquisition, security and resilience, as well as many defence technology subjects such as explosives, military vehicle technology, military electronics, and defence simulation. The Library gives access to 156,600 books and series, 17,000 online journals and 9,000 e-books.
The Library provides a number of specialist collections:
- A classified Reports Section which contains over 40,000 research and technical reports from industry, the MOD, DSTL, Qinetiq, and overseas defence research agencies, as well as classified conference proceedings, training and doctrine publications, and Cranfield/CMT research and course dissertations
- CMT Heritage Centre – historical documents and images relating to the campus and local area
- The Ezell Gun Collection – a substantial number of documents donated to Barrington Library by the late Edward Clinton Ezell. This is Ezell’s personal collection of small arms-related material including brochures and images
Visitor access to the Barrington Library is by prior permission only and may be restricted due to course commitments or security considerations.
