Education for Acquisition
We provide acquisition training to UK MOD civilian and military personnel, industry and other government departments. Our mission is to provide the knowledge and skills needed by the acquisition community to enable it to better deliver business benefits.
The central hub is located in Admiral House, a purpose built training centre located on the outskirts of Bristol close to DE&S Abbey Wood and we have centres located in Andover, Bath, Bicester, Bristol and Wyton. Training is delivered at each of the satellite centres and also increasingly at customer locations where demand exists.
Subject areas include:
- Programme & Project Management
- Commercial Practices
- Supply Chain Management (Air)
- Logistics, Category Management, System Safety
- Lean Management, Requirements Management and Quality Management
Along with the scheduled courses, we offer tailored training solutions which address the specific business needs of our customers. This ranges from modifying existing courses or mixing a range of topics from different courses, to carrying out a full training needs analysis, designing and delivering a new programme of learning (including e-learning) specific to an organisation’s needs.
A number of our courses are formally accredited by recognised bodies. The ‘System Safety’ suite of courses has received official recognition from the University of York, and the Commercial Awareness and Practitioner Programme is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply as equivalent to their National Qualifications Ladder Level 3 qualification.
Additional information on Acquisition training delivered from Admiral House is available from http://www.dacmt-acquisition.org.uk. Further acquisition training is detailed in all 3 prospectuses, depending on the specialisation.
Acquisition Employment Training (AET)
AET is a five week course designed to provide training and education for military staff entering acquisition appointments for the first time. In many cases it will also be the first course that officers will have attended that is dedicated to the acquisition of capability. The course programme is based on a training needs analysis endorsed by the Military Acquisition Stream (MAS) Steering Group with the detailed content produced by a team of military and academic staff at the CMT and assisted by relevant skills champions within the MOD.
