Cranfield University and College of Management and Technology Graduation 2009
The DA-CMT and Cranfield University Graduation Ceremony took place recently in the Defence Capability Centre at Shrivenham.
At the Graduation, the Chancellor of Cranfield University, the Lord Vincent of Coleshill conferred degrees and awards on over one hundred and forty Graduands and a further 160 in absentia. This is a wonderful occasion for Graduands and their families to recognise and celebrate the successful completion of their studies and their achievement.
An Honorary Degree was presented to Lieutenant General Sir Edmund Burton KBE. Professor Geoff Mays, Head of School of Cranfield Defence and Security, said: "Sir Edmund Burton was selected for his outstanding contribution to the defence and security sectors in which Cranfield works. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him and all the students who have worked tirelessly to be part of the ceremony."
The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines, HMS Collingwood, only formed in June of this year, provided the music at the Ceremony. After the Ceremony, lunch was served in Roberts Hall and Kitchener Hall. Unfortunately, because of the weather the planned display from the Royal Navy Raiders Parachute Display Team and the Marching Display from the band was cancelled.
