Defence Sixth Form College 2009 – Another Outstanding Year for A Level and AS Level Success
Following on from last year’s remarkable success story, The Defence Sixth Form College has achieved yet another outstanding series of A-level results.
In the face of extremely high competition for university places, an impressive 157 Upper Sixth students (out of a total of 159) have successfully obtained a place at university, including one student who will be studying medicine at Oxford and another who has gained a place at Cambridge to study engineering.
At AS Level, the Lower Sixth students achieved an outstanding 99% pass rate with 42% achieving A grades and 69% achieving A and B grades; a notable improvement on last year.
Whilst statistics from independent bodies are awaited, the key headlines this year are:
- 100% pass rate at A Level
- 54% of the A Level passes were at A grade - the highest ever
- A & B grades were achieved by 79% of Upper Sixth students
- The average UCAS points score per student was 370
