Launch of the New Future Business Group within the DCMT

A new Future Business Group (FBG) has been launched within the DCMT to support the implementation of the Defence Industrial Strategy.

This team will be led by Paul Hamilton, a B1 civil servant, working directly to the Commandant, Rear Admiral Neil Latham, and also drawing in key staff from other areas of the College.

This team will take forward the work stemming from the recent Enabling Acquisition Change report, which recognised that the MoD's approach to acquisition training was fragmented, and placed on the Defence Academy the task of ensuring more coherence of delivery across the Department.

The initial focus of the FBG is to establish linkages with the Enabling Acquisition Change team, the skills champions, workstream leaders and development partners to identify short and longer term education and training requirements.

DCMT is hosting a Defence Acquisition Programme launch event for the Enabling Acquisition Change team at Shrivenham on 15 September 2006 for all senior staff in the wider acquisition community. This will be an important event for setting out how DIS is to be taken forward, including the Defence Values for Acquisition and the Acquisition Operating Framework.

The FBG will also be looking at governance arrangements for DCMT, and how it should be organised to meet future business requirements arising from DIS implementation.
