Technology
Working closely with our long term Academic Provider Cranfield University, our aim is to develop and deliver education and training in all aspects of technology for Defence, including the wider context of security and resilience. Our courses provide world class learning opportunities for MOD staff, both Military and Civil Service, across a wide spectrum of MOD activity. In support of Defence Industrial and Technology Strategies and wider Government policies, our courses attract include students from defence-related industry and from overseas.
The range of courses available are varied both in subject matter and delivery method. Courses delivered at Masters level include, but are not limited to, guided weapons, explosives, military electronics, information management and technology, systems engineering and modelling and simulation. Many of these are available in a modular format with accredited modules leading to Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert), Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) or MSc qualifications. This approach offers maximum flexibility to customers, future employers and prospective students.
Shorter courses range from pre-Employment Training for staff about to take up specialist posts through to the Senior Officers Applied Technology Course. The courses cover subjects across the technology spectrum from radar to ballistics, and vary in length from one day to several weeks. Many courses are delivered to MOD staff “free at the point of delivery” and military Directing Staff support the students and governance of the courses. Other courses have been developed as “complementary business” by Cranfield University in response to the wider Defence market and we are keen to engage with potential customers.
