Nature of the Course
The course:
- Revitalises and broadens professional interest.
- Enhances the ability to identify and focus on key strategic, operational, joint and multinational issues.
Students will gain:
- An understanding of the Instruments of Power, Strategy, the Military-strategic and Operational levels, Operational Art and the utility of force.
- A common understanding of the employment of military force at the Operational level and key enabling functions.
- A practical understanding of the characteristics of the Maritime, Land, Air and Logistic Components and the Special Forces Element and assess their integration at the Operational level.
- A fuller understanding of the nature of High Command.
To get the most out of the course, students must have proven ability in their own environment and have recognized potential for higher-level command and staff appointments.
End State
The course end state is "The enhancement of an agile mind that is able to analyse and conceptualize complex contemporary issues of a joint, combined and integrated nature in order to discharge command effectively and make sound, timely decisions, in the current context, at the military-strategic and operational levels of conflict."
