Fuehrer Conferences

Throughout the Second World War Adolf Hitler met with Grand Admiral Raeder, Commander-in-Chief of the German Fleet and his staff at a series of situation report meetings that became known as the Fuehrer Conferences on Naval Affairs.

BismarckAlthough only covering topics of interest to Hitler, the meeting notes nevertheless provide a unique insight into the development of German sea power and overall strategy during the War.  The conferences also provide an insight into the command relationship between Hitler and his Naval High Command.

Translated into English soon after the end of the War, the Fuehrer Conferences on Naval Affairs have been published on several occasions since they first appeared in Brassey’s Naval Annual of 1948 and most recently with an excellent commentary by Jak P Mallmann Showell.  However, this is believed to be the first time that a digital copy has been made available from an original transcript.  Further years will be digitised and added to this page in the near future.
