The College was delighted to welcome the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP, who delivered an important speech on Afghanistan in the run-up to Remembrance weekend.
Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP delivers a major speech at RCDS (6 Nov)
The speech paid tribute to the UK Armed Forces and expanded on the Government’s policy on Afghanistan. It included his discussions with President Karzi, the major issues facing Afghanistan, the role of the UK and the international community and the Afghanistan Government in bringing peace and stability to the region. The speech has been widely reported in the media and is seen as a major policy statement.
After the speech, in private session, the PM took questions from RCDS members which covered a variety of strategic issues focussing on Afghanistan.
