Entry Requirements
1st or 2nd class honours degree or professional equivalent in an appropriate area. Alternatively, a lesser qualification together with appropriate work experience may be accepted. Students not having English as their native tongue must attain an IELTS score of 7. Due to the nature of this course, all candidates will be asked to submit a completed Subject Access Form, and self-sponsored candidates will need to supply an additional character reference.Accreditation

Military activity intentionally taken, through action or inaction, to affect the perceptions, behaviours and uniquely, the will of a chosen target audience has always been a part of what the military do. It is very much still a pervasive part of contemporary military operations and increasingly within the wider national security context. This new course provides the professional education to support the role of the Information Operations practitioner. It provides students with the competencies and abilities to advocate the Information Operations approach amongst decisions makers at a senior and national level.

Course Structure
Started in September 2008 the following UNCLASSIFIED part time course is available. Each module will have a short residential element which will be augmented by online materials and virtual syndicate work. The courses can be completed individually or combined to achieve a Postgraduate Certificate accredited by Cranfield University. Course modules include:
Information Operations Planning – In this double module students will critically examine current doctrine and planning procedures across a variety of military and civilian roles and capabilities to examine their contribution to Information Operations and Influence Activity. Case studies and exercises will allow them to examine the issues inherent in conducting successful Information Operations.
Target Audience Dynamics - This module focuses on the need to change the behaviour of people. The course content will recognize the unique context of behaviour modification in military and law enforcement context in the need to consider and exploit the use of physical force.
Measurement, Targeting and Monitoring – In this module students will learn research skills and techniques to guide their planning and implementation of Information Operations. This module takes into account the conditions that prevail in military theatres where the environment is largely non-benign to many established social research methodologies.
Defensive Information Management – This module equips the students with a critical understanding of the opportunities and vulnerabilities they face when considering the issues of managing information flow. The module will focus on three key areas, Military Deception, Information Assurance and Media Operations.
Operations in Cyberspace – This module sets out to provide students with different levels of IT knowledge with a critical appreciation of the core concepts of Computer Network Information Operations. This UNCLASSIFIED module examines issues of Computer Network Attack through analysing cases of e-crime.
