Defence Academy (Shrivenham) Visitors' Day

On Tuesday 23rd June, a second Visitors' Day took place at the Shrivenham main site.

Defence Academy (Shrivenham) Visitors' Day

Guests participated in a number of capability demonstrations at the Defence Capability Centre (DCC)

Building on the success of the first last year, the aim was to target specific audiences to INFORM and EDUCATE what the Defence Academy does, how it has grown and how it supports both operational effectiveness and community engagement.  It contributes to the continuing development of external relations and the reputation of the Defence Academy.

The guests arrived in the morning at the Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC) for coffee before moving into the Cormorant Hall for a number of informative presentations. An overview of the role and purpose of the Defence Academy by the Director General, Lt Gen Graham CBE was followed by presentations from JSCSC, College of Management and Technology (CMT), Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), Armed Forces Chaplaincy Centre (AFCC), Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC) and Serco.  Guests then conducted a guided tour of the Shrivenham site, ending at the Defence Capability Centre (DCC).  After an overview from Director, Tech Division, Brig Scott-Bowden MBE, the guests conducted a series of hands on, practical capability demonstrations.  The visit concluded with a hosted lunch and an opportunity to wander around the DCC with experts on hand.

The day was, again, a huge success with visitor’s leaving better informed and engaged with people at the Defence Academy.  Credit goes to the 'home team' who ensured that these important bespoke events continue to have the desired effect.
