Introduction to Battlefield Technology Day

Officer cadets from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst attended the Defence Capability Centre at the Defence Academy to take part in the Introduction to Battlefield Technology (IBT) Day.

There are 3 IBT days each year, one for each intake, and it is the only technology included in the Sandhurst programme.  Depending on the intake, 230-280 officer cadets attend.

The day is organised by the Centre for Defence Acquisition and Technology and comprises 18 stands, grouped into themes of mobility, lethality and survivability, personal equipment, counter-IED and enabling technologies of communications, logistic, medical, equipment support and simulation.  Stands are delivered by Defence Academy and Cranfield University staff supported by a range of organisations including the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory and Army units.  The presentations begin at 0900 and finish at 1700, with only 30 minutes for lunch which presents a challenge for our caterers from ESS!  The days are always well received and enjoyed by officer cadets and instructors alike.
