Lord Lieutenant's Visit - 19th June

The Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Mr Tim Stevenson, and 46 Deputy Lieutenants visited the Defence Academy on Friday the 19th June.

This was part of a programme of visits to different organisations in the county. The purpose of the visit was to learn about defence in general, and specifically to learn about the work of the Defence Academy; how we operate and our effect on the local area.

The delegation was welcomed by the Director General, and received briefs on all college components with an additional brief on Serco who employs 314 staff from the local area. The delegation particularly enjoyed their tour of the Defence Capability Centre.

The group also took part in an excellent question and answer session, where the Deputy Lieutenants posed insightful questions on the Defence Academy’s place within wider defence. “From the intellectual challenges of future strategy to armour piercing, it was a most informative visit” wrote Richard Dick, the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire.
