New additions to the JSCSC Library online archives
The JSCSC is pleased to announce some new additions to the Library webpages.
Tank warfare was one of the major emerging technologies of the First World War and the eight documents displayed are amongst the earliest official manuals to address the doctrinal issues that evolved during the war.
The Fuehrer Conferences on Naval Affairs have been available in print for some years. These transcripts of regular meetings between Adolph Hitler and his Naval High Command chart the events and strategic plans relating to the Kriegsmarine during the Second World War. The first volume has been digitised and more will follow shortly.
Major-General John Gaspard Le Marchant can be said to be the father of British military staff training. The JSCSC is the proud owner of an early copy of the original portrait of Le Marchant that is still owned by his descendants. Lady Butler’s evocative paintings of military subjects are well known, especially as they are among the few paintings of the Victorian era that show the harsh reality of war. Her picture ‘Rescuing the Wounded Under Fire in Afghanistan’ is a vivid illustration of a battle in an earlier campaign in a still familiar theatre of war.
In addition to these new Archive and Artwork webpages we have added a large number of new Bibliographies in the Research Guides and Command and Leadership series, including Climate Change and Security and Suicide Terrorism.
