Visit of Mrs Naomi Robinson to the Defence Academy 29 Jan 09
On the 29th Jan 09, Mrs Naomi Robinson, escorted by Mr and Mrs J Ogden, visited the Defence Academy.
Mrs Robinson, next to the citation of her husband, hosted by Lt Col Bennett, C Div Directing Staff and an ICSC (L) RIFLES officer
The purpose of this special visit was to see the room within the Defence Academy dedicated to the memory and achievements of her late husband, Lt Col Max Robinson DSO OBE 4 KSLI (1918-1988). The Robinson Room, as with all the rooms dedicated to notable individuals throughout history, maintains an important link between past and present.
The visit was enabled by Col Mike Montagu, Chief of Staff, Defence Academy. It incorporated a tour of the Academy to see what goes on as well as engagement with the Army Division (C Div) where the room is located. Mrs Robinson was able to talk with current Majors on the Intermediate Command and Staff Course (Land) course during a planning exercise. She also took the time to remember her husband before being the principal guest at a lunch within the Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC).
The visit forms part of the Defence Academy’s determination to maintain important links to the wider defence community and remember those that have contributed over time.
A short piece from Lt Col Robinson’s citation is shown below:
