How the evenings events unfolded

Ascot 'Night at the Races'

Sirs, Ma'ams or those somewhere inbetween. . .

And they’re off! Placing bets, winning big cash prizes, participating in races, wearing inappropriate headwear and for some, faltering in the final furlong!

The Ascot Night at the Races opened with its first race from the five fixtures to a crowd of eager betters. Being a virtual race, punters had the opportunity to engage their attention in a live horserace displayed on the Sqn television screen; with high stakes to be benefitted from, the atmosphere was palpable. Upon winnings being collected by the lucky few, it was time for a spot of crowd participation in the fixture to follow; the real race.

Syndicates were organised, a few dark horses and mares were nominated and were then swiftly auctioned off to the highest bidders.  A number of dice rolls, quiz questions and eager encouragements from the horse owners later and a winner was crowned. Upon prompt action taken on the buffet, the races alternated until everyone was satisfied that they’d either won far too much money or that they should cut their losses.

In all, a successful night for the charities benefiting; ‘Rainbows’ and ‘Action for Kids’ children’s charities, with a total of £267.25 split between them.
