The day was a (s)log!

On the weekend of the 26th of November six DTUS students from Typhoon squadron, Loughborough travelled to Swinley Forest in Bracknell to conduct a weekend of mountain biking. The students were Mid Gbadebowale Adekoluejo, OCdt Daniel Jones, OCdt David Chaytor, OCdt Adam Fleming, OCdt Keith Woodcock and OCdt Abby Campbell. Judging the journey down you could tell all participants were excited especially those asleep in the back and so as we arrived at The Look Out Discovery Centre in Bracknell everyone was ready to get going. We started slightly slow to recce the routes that we would take later and exploring the site. We found some interesting however not to challenging trails which still managed to cause a slight separation of the group. After regrouping we decided to head to a small section of the site where we could test our skill on a few jumps. after being slightly daunted by the level of skill other riders had when we arrived OCdt Fleming decided to give it a shot taking it slightly slow but still getting to the other side in one piece, this burst of confidence spurred us on and soon enough we were all flying through. However this spurt of adrenaline filled fun was cut short when OCdt Chaytor decided he could fly and dislocated his shoulder on landing. Day two proved to be a lot more exciting as the rest of us continued with the absence of OCdt Chaytor and OCdt Campbell. We found some very challenging routes which gave hope to a lot more cuts and bruises as proved by OCdt Fleming as he attempted a downhill route which went slightly wrong. A few more technical trails and riding proved the weekend to be a success and I’m sure everyone enjoyed it.
