Equality & Diversity Adviser Refresher Course - R056A

This is a three day training package that re-qualifies Officers, Warrant Officers and SNCOs in the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and those Civil Service equivalent grades employed and responsible for military personnel, to continue to perform duties as an EDA and conduct E&D training at Unit, Establishment and Formation Headquarters levels.

Suitable For

Service personnel of SNCO rank and above and all civilian personnel who have undertaken the responsibilities of an EDA since Sep 2006.

Course Aim

To promote a working environment compliant with the MOD's Equality and Diversity (E&D) policy through the re-qualification of Equality and Diversity Advisers.

Course Objectives

By the end of the module participants will be able to:

  • explain the principles of E&D
  • outline the business, moral and legal cases for adopting the MOD's E&D policy
  • explain why E&D Management is important to the MOD
  • explain the links between attitudes and behaviour in relation to E&D
  • identify problems encountered by minority groups
  • explain how the MOD complies with Equality Legislation
  • explain the responsibilities of MOD personnel in relation to E&D
  • define and identify discrimination, harassment and bullying in the workplace
  • advise personnel on MOD E&D complaints procedures
  • explain methods of investigating complaints within the MOD
  • provide guidance on the implementation of the MOD policies on E&D
  • provide advice on monitoring the E&D climate
  • advanced E&D awareness training.
