Territorial Army Intermediate Staff Course (TA ISC)
The TAISC Course is for Captains and Majors in the British Army TA and the Royal Marines Reserve.
TA ISC & The Army Division
TA ISC is planned and delivered by the Regular Army staff of the Army Division, which forms part of the Joint Command and Staff College (JSCSC) at Shrivenham. JSCSC is in turn one of the constituent colleges that together form the Defence Academy.
Course Aim
To prepare selected officers for employment in TA Grade 2 staff appointments.
Course Endstate
The end-state of the course is for a TA officer to have the requisite analytical and communications skills, professional knowledge and understanding to be capable, under supervision, of filling a TA Grade 2 staff appointment.
Pre-Course Preparation and Joining Instructions
MK2(V) Modules 4 and 5 must be completed before attending this course and can be accessed on the Army VLE which is hosted on the Defence Learning Portal now. Officers should note that Modules 4 and 5 are being updated on 23 May 12 to reflect the publication of new doctrine (AFM 1/1 Brigade Tactics). Those who have already completed these modules should re-visit them before the start of the TAISC. However, they are not mandated to re-complete the assessment in this instance.
