This course is focused on providing you with the knowledge, awareness, skills and behaviours required to perform as an Active Bystander. You will practice making positive interventions safely whilst identifying appropriate resources and reporting options.

What you will learn

You will learn/develop
  • the definition of the bystander effect
  • identify why people ‘stand-by’
  • explain bullying, harassment or discrimination (sexual orientation; gender reassignment; race; religion and belief; disability; marriage and civil partnership; age; pregnancy and maternity; sex) in relation to the bystander effect
  • identify the role of an active bystander
  • describe how to make positive interventions safely
  • practice the skills and behaviours required to make positive interventions
