This training is currently being updated. We anticipate that training will be made available late January 2021.
Open to all, Capability & Acquisition (CAPAC) ‘Fundamentals’ is an awareness training offer which provides military and civilian personnel with essential knowledge prior to undertaking a variety of CAPAC roles and appointments. This training is also relevant to Professional Military Education components, and also those who have not been employed in CAPAC domains for a period of time. The course also provides international students, or those from industry, with a comprehensive overview of CAPAC activities and processes used within the UK MOD.
CAPAC Fundamentals is initially delivered over 2 consecutive sessions: ‘How Defence Works’ and ‘Delivering Change’. Each session runs for approximately 30 minutes.
'How Defence Works'. Considers how the UK Government uses the new Defence Operating Model to set strategic baselines and how the MOD then undertakes the end to end process of sourcing and supporting new and existing military capability with supporting examples. Course topics include the 3-Stage Approvals Process, the CADMID cycle and Setting Programmes up for Successful Outcomes.
‘Delivering Change’. Explores acquisition to capability processes through the introduction of Performance, Cost & Time and Policy analysis, behaviours and themes promoting success.
Further awareness training, primarily that covering ‘Commercial’, ‘Finance’ and ‘Project Delivery’ functions, must also be completed in order to achieve the necessary levels of professional competence at the ‘Fundamentals’ level.
