About this course

Module 1 will give you essential computer networking knowledge which is required to be successful at progressing onto further modules of the CFP.

What you will learn

  • How layers of the Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) model interact and communicate with each other
  • Knowledge of binary and hexadecimal and their application to networking design and operation
  • How to build and configure a simulated network
  • How encryption is used to secure network communications

Each module in the Cyber Foundation Pathway builds sequentially on the learning from preceding modules. Successful completion of this module will enable you to proceed to the next module to further build your cyber skills.

How will you be assessed?

There are a series of formative tests as part of the learning, and a final summative assessment hosted on the DLE. If you are following the Cyber Foundation Pathway it is necessary for you to pass this assessment.
