About this course

In light of current events the Defence Cyber School is delivering this Cyber Foundation Pathway Module remotely via the Defence Learning Environment (DLE) and QA’s “Attend from Anywhere” remote learning software. 

The courses will run with options for either self-study online learning, for the more confident student or instructor led, via video link sessions which can be selected under planned dates. Students wishing to opt for self-study should email DEFAC-TECH-DCS@da.mod.uk making sure to include the service number linked to your DLE account. 

Students with experience of the topics covered may wish to go directly to the module assessments on the DLE, if you wish to do this please  also use the ‘ask about this course enquiry form’.


This course is part of the Cyber Foundation Pathway and will give the you an introduction to operating systems, architectures, security, and the command line. Primarily focussed around Windows and Linux, this course will get you comfortable on the command line and performing basic administrative and auditing tasks.

Before you attend

To attend module 3 you need to have:
  • attended CFP module 2 or
  • passed the CFP module 2 assessment

How will you be assessed?

Assessment of this module is a one hour multiple choice DLE exam. The pass mark is 70%.
