About this course

Diversity and Inclusion Advisers are key influencers in an organisation. As a key influencer, you will work with specialist groups within your organisation and liaise with senior leaders to gain their commitment to initiatives in support of the MOD Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and in promoting a whole force inclusive working environment. You will also provide moral support and provide advice to personnel of all ranks and grades in respect of the bullying and harassment complaints procedure.

The aim of the Diversity and Inclusion Adviser course is to prepare Military and Civil Service personnel to perform duties as a Diversity and Inclusion Adviser at Unit, establishment and formation headquarters level.

Delegates for these courses should follow guidance in 2020DIN07-050 before applying and selecting course dates.

What you will learn

You will learn/develop the following:
  • articulate current diversity and inclusion strategy, policies and initiatives in order to create a whole force for inclusive working environment
  • provide appropriate, accurate and impartial advice regarding discrimination, bullying, harassment and/or abuse in accordance with JSP 763
  • produce and maintain accurate Diversity and Inclusion logs and reports and ensure they are recorded in accordance with JSP 763
  • evaluate the unit, establishment, station or formation headquarter for diversity and inclusion climate and formulate effective action plans

Before you attend

Before applying for this course please ensure that you have:
  • completed Diversity and Inclusion Fundamentals, DI(F), on line course within the last 12 months, achieving a pass mark of at least 80%.
  • completed Diversity and Inclusion 2019 through Civil Service Learning portal
  • completed Diversity and Inclusion Practitioner, DI(P), within the previous 3 years
  • approval from your TLB
There will be pre-course activity of between 4-6 hours.

How will I learn?

Blended Learning, Online, Classroom

How will you be assessed?

  • Completion of Defence Diversity and Inclusion Fundamentals Course with pass mark of at least 80%.
  • Assessments will be conducted throughout the course.
  • You will be deemed competent or non-competent to carry out the role of a Diversity and Inclusion Adviser.
  • Following successful completion of all course pre-requisites and assessments you will be eligible to apply for either ILM Level 4 award in Managing Equality & Diversity in Organisations, and/or CMI Level 5 Award in Managing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion qualifications, both of which are self-funded.
