About this course

This is a 12 week course which takes place in May/June every year. The course requires an entry level of IELTS 6.0.

At present there are no accreditation options available for this English language course.

Application is carried out through IDT(A).

What you will learn

The aim of the course is to improve students’ performance across the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing so that they are at the required level for full participation in the course at the Joint Services Command and Staff College.

How will this course help my career?

This course develops the English language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing up to the STANAG proficiency level 3. It focuses on writing in academic English and provides students with the skill sets to enable them to undertake the ACSC course with more confidence. 

This course is attended by a high majority of international students selected for the ACSC course for the academic advantages it provides but also for the networking opportunities available. It has also been found that those students who undertake this course have English skills at a level more likely to enable them to participate successfully on the Advanced Command and Staff course.

Security and restrictions

Attendees on this course are international military personnel who have been selected to attend the ACSC course and have been cleared to attend by one of the respective IDTs.

Before you attend

All students who attend these courses will have been selected to attend the ACSC course and cleared to attend the Pre-ACSC course by the IDTs.
