About this course

The workshop is designed to complement and extend knowledge gained in the pre-requisite online course.  It provides discussion on the importance of system safety management, safety culture and the associated legal framework.  It looks at safety cases, safety audits and safety governance and sequencing system safety activity in a project cycle.  The course is an element of a mandated programme for MOD system safety practitioners leading to an International Institute of Safety Risk Management accreditation, but has wider relevance to non-MOD employees involved in the system safety aspects of projects.

What you will learn

By the end of the course you will be able to explain:
  • the importance of system safety management, its principles and practical implementation
  • the principles of as low as reasonably practical
  • levels of system safety audit
  • system safety case principles

System safety principles are fundamental to project compliance and this course provides essential understanding for practitioners responsible for advising or delivering system safety standards.  It is part of a mandated pathway and qualification for MOD system safety practitioners.
