About this course

The course examines human factors in management of system safety in projects and introduces hazard logs and a number of tools and techniques used in the system safety management process: bow-tie diagrams, event tree analysis, goal structure notation, and fault tree analysis.  It also looks at common hazard and risk analysis techniques: HAZOPS, CCS, ZHQ and PRA.   The course is set against a context of the MOD project environment but the principles have wider applicability.  It is an element of a mandated programme for MOD system safety practitioners leading to an International Institute of Safety Risk Management Accreditation, but has wider relevance to non-MOD employees involved in the system safety aspects of projects.

Associated workshop-based training courses are now being delivered by an external provider in the Bristol area.  Bookings are being taken for both the System Safety Process Management and System Safety Practitioner modules, with plans to re-introduce System Safety in Action in mid-2020.  Bookings must not be made directly with the training provider but through the DE&S sponsor. Completion of the relevant online training module remains an essential pre-requisite for attendance on all workshops.
