About this course

This course is part of the Cyber Foundation Pathway Building on the technical skills gained in CFP modules 1 to 3, it introduces you to cyber-attack and cyber-defence techniques. You will take part in a penetration test against a fictional company network, discovering weaknesses and vulnerabilities; exploring how malicious actors could exploit these to gain access to systems and services. You will also learn how to conduct low level malware analysis, network incident response and basic computer and network forensics.

The assessment is not part of the residential course and must be booked following a minimum two-week period of consolidation after the module.

The Defence Cyber School (DCS) is offering a blended approach to the delivery of the Cyber Foundation Pathway (CFP) module 4. This gives you increased flexibility to customise your learning experience.

There are two study options available depending on how you wish to learn:

Instructor led remote classroom (online): Building on course materials available online and making use of a simulated learning environment, this course includes instructor led remote classroom learning.  You can expect daily instructor led demonstrations on concepts and toolsets, instructor teaching sessions, group exercises and quizzes; all with the ability to talk to and ask questions of the instructors throughout each day of the module.

You can apply via the ‘Apply Now’ button above and selecting dates highlighted as remote delivery.

Classroom based learning: This is a residential option, returning to the more traditional way of face-to-face teaching.  All the module content will be delivered using DCS classroom facilities; whiteboard, DCS network and PowerPoint.  This will be conducted at the Defence Academy.

You can apply via the ‘Apply Now’ button above and selecting dates highlighted as classroom delivery.

To progress further through the CFP, you must complete and pass the Module 4 Assessment. Full details of the assessment can be found on the CFPEX4 page.
