The course aims to develop your negotiation skills through workshop and practical role play. It considers outcomes and appropriate strategies, the respective interests of each party and the potential importance of concessions to them, tactics, responses and behaviours.
There is emphasis on hard analytical and planning techniques as well as soft interpersonal and individual skills.
It is part of a suite of MOD courses designed to assist commercial officers progress from awareness to expert level but has wider applicability to non-MOD and wider government employees.
You will learn to:
- develop negotiation outcomes and strategies
- apply appropriate negotiating tactics and respond to tactics employed by others
- evaluate outcomes and the reasons for their success or failure
