The Defence Academy's Owls scored their second rugby victory in America this week with a convincing 33-7 win over Topeka RFC.
Over 200 Owls fans supported the team, who are currently in Kansas for Exercise Eagle Owl as part of their ICSC(L) course, during the charity match which was raising money for the Fallen Officer Fund.
Tries were scored by Major Andy Tiernan, Major Dave Lambert, Major Gareth Davies, Major Alex Whitaker, and Major Dan Reed. Major Lambert also scored the conversions.
The game was almost called off due to bad weather conditions on the day, but turned into a hot and humid day that made tough playing conditions for the Owls against a physical team used to the conditions.
Exercise Eagle Owl is a joint training exercise with the Americans following May’s Exercise Hawk Owl in the UK.
The money raised during the game is going to the family of Corporal Jason Harwood of the Topeka Police Department, who was shot and killed in September last year whilst conducting a traffic stop.
