Ben Fogle speaks to Advanced Command and Staff Course 23 about resilience

02 October 2019 / Categories: DA News and Events

Finishing off Command, Leadership and Ethics discussions, we were delighted to have Ben Fogle speak to ACSC 23 students about resilience.

Ben spoke in an amusing and engaging way talking about his varied experiences as part of BBC’s Castaway, (in which he was marooned on an island in the Outer Hebrides for a year), rowing across the Atlantic and climbing Mount Everest, each proving how resilience was key to survival and linking his experiences to how he grew as a person. This was an insightful and interesting talk that moved staff and students alike.

Command Leadership and Ethics stage of ACSC was joined by 38 external delegates from the MOD Civil Service, HM Prison & Probation Service, the Malaysian Prison Service and UK industry. They had the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences and observations, having been provided with insight into resilience and how to recover from failure to enable them to lead successful teams.
