Cormorants reunite to celebrate the battle of Taranto

14 December 2015 / Categories: DA News and Events

Over two dozen members of the Cormorant Club gathered at the Joint Services Command and Staff College recently for a reunion and celebration of the battle of Taranto.

The longest-serving Cormorant, Colonel Nigel Flower, who graduated from the National Defence College in 1975, joined the reunion along with some of our newest Cormorants from this year’s ACSC 18.

The evening began with pre-dinner drinks and entertainment from the Drummers of the Royal Marine Band. Dr Warren Chin then did a presentation on “Britain’s War against ISIS”, which was very well received, and the evening concluded with a fantastic dinner and a theatrical re-enactment of the battle, complete with cardboard Fairey Swordfishes.

Wing Commander Ewan Lawson (ACSC 6) spoke for all when he said:

“It was an excellent evening and I have already started the campaign for next year!”

The next reunion dinner is planned for Thursday 24 November 2016 and places can be booked though the Cormorant Secretary.
