International Section and Cranfield University delivered a highly successful Strategic Leadership Programme (SLP) in Athens over the period 1-5 Jul 19.
This was the first time the programme had been delivered in Greece and came at interesting time given the national elections that immediately followed the course. Regional by design, delegates were drawn not only from the Hellenic Armed Forces but the Police, Coast Guard and Customs Department, in addition to representation from Israel, Jordan, North Macedonia, Cyprus and Albania.
The course was held in the impressive setting of the Residence and opened by Her Excellency Kate Smith and closed by Maj Gen Angos Konstantinos, Director Training, Hellenic National Defence General Staff.
The course also effectively leveraged the defence engagement opportunities with a reception, hosted by the Ambassador in the Hellenic Officers’ Club, for SLP delegates, the Ambassadors and resident Defence Attachés of countries who had officers on the course and the Embassy’s community of influence. The Defence Section also put on cultural tours for the regional delegates to the Acropolis monument and to the Hellenic Parliament buildings.
