International Section, Defence Engagement School recently delivered a Strategic Leadership Programme (SLP) in Cyprus.
In additional to Cypriot National Guard and Customs Department, this course also included delegates from Greece, Jordan, Israel and the UK.
This course enjoyed a number of firsts: this was the first time the SLP has been delivered in Cyprus; was the first occasion that Greece and Israel have attended an SLP; and finally the first time UK delegates, both military and civil servants have attended an export course.
The course, held in Nicosia was opened by Lieutenant General Ilias Leontaris, Chief of General Staff of the Cypriot National Guard, and included a Defence Engagement Reception at the British High Commission hosted by His Excellency Stephen Lille.
His Excellency Stephen Lille, The High Commissioner said:
‘The Strategic Leadership Programme is part of a framework to upgrade ties between Cyprus and Britain on defence issues as the UK see Cyprus as an important pillar of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Strategic Leadership Programme is a message that this is exactly what’s happening. ”
International Section will be delivering a further four SLPs to Jordan, Kuwait, Bangladesh and Afghanistan over the next seven weeks.
