ACSC students complete sailing certificates.

Students from ACSC 18, accompanied by Miss Alison Pratt from the JSCSC Library, have completed their fifth and final weekend of offshore sailing since September which has seen seven students and members of staff from the Academy awarded their Royal Yachting Association Competent Crew Certificates.

The sailing has also prepared two students for their Day Skipper examination in July, which they will undertake on a voyage to France as part of the ACSC Battlefield Study.

Pictured are Wg Cdr Charlie Matthews and Lt Col Barry Leonard (left and right) - the two Day Skipper candidates - along with Lt Col Chris Gent (centre) having just sailed past The Needles on the Isle of Wight.

This weekend the crew sailed 62 miles in outstanding wind and weather conditions in the Solent and Christchurch Bay aboard St Barbara, the flagship of the Royal Artillery Yacht Club, and enjoyed overnight stays in Cowes and Lymington.
