On Wednesday 7 August 2019, 11 Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) junior rank students of No 91 Ammunition Technicians (AT) course presented three given topics, by syndicate, to Brigadier Bowron, Head of Tech and Business Faculty.
The top student on the course was Private Pickford who attained an average exam percentage of 94.5%.
The topics given for designs were:
• Waterway Denial Weapon
• Multiple Non-Lethal Effect Munition For Internal Security and Counter-Insurgency (IS/COIN) Ops
• Multi-Target Mine
Following completion of the AT course which lays the educational foundation for the next phase, the soldiers will now move on to Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Munitions and Search (DEMS) Training Regiment for the commencement of their formal training for the next few months.
The level of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) understanding required for their formal Phase 2 Training, combined with the necessary contextual environment (armoured vehicles, aircraft et al as found in Tech School), can only be provided currently at the Defence Academy.
