RCDS library

The key function of library services is to support all aspects of the RCDS course and to assist members throughout their studies at RCDS. 

Our library houses an important collection of approximately 30,000 books, reports and pamphlets, focusing on military studies, politics and international affairs. It also holds just a wide range of current periodical titles and provides access to a number of e-journals and on-line databases to assist members with their research.

It has a large collection of research papers - including previous members' dissertations and strategic analysis 3 papers and all published Seaford House papers.

Monday – Friday 0900 –1700 (closed Public Holidays)


Restricted to RCDS members and staff (MOD and partners across government by appointment)


A loans service is available to RCDS members and staff. Requests from MOD and partners across government may be made, although availability of material cannot always be guaranteed. Access to details of books, dissertations and journal articles is available via the online library catalogue. Every member is automatically registered as a library user. Where items are not in stock they may be obtained via the extensive network of libraries in the UK.


Photocopying and scanning facilities are available to members Monday - Friday 0900 - 1700. Copying and scanning has to be done in accordance with the copyright law.
