The Defence Academy is proud to welcome students from varied backgrounds on our courses, including those from the UK Armed Forces, international military partners, and civilians from across government and the private sector. Our student population is diverse, ranging from those just starting their career to seasoned officers preparing for the senior stages of their careers, as well as all stages between. Some of our residential students bring their families with them to study on our longer courses.
When not studying, students at the Defence Academy will find ample opportunities to relax, make friends and enjoy our cafes, bars, restaurants, sports and social clubs, events and leisure facilities. The Defence Academy's sports facilities at Shrivenham are first class, covering a wide range of activities. Please check individual sites for specific details of facilities and activities at each location.
The Defence Academy's colleges and schools are located at several different sites. Our main campus is at Shrivenham, Oxfordshire, where you will find our headquarters, the Joint Services Command & Staff College, the Defence Leadership Centre, the Business Skills College, the Technology School, Armed Forces Chaplaincy Centre and the Defence Centre for Languages and Culture.
The Royal College of Defence Studies is in Belgravia, central London. Other important sites are the Nuclear Department at Gosport, Hampshire, the Defence Centre for Training Support near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and 5 universities (Aston, Loughborough, Newcastle, Northumbria and Southampton).
