  • MOD civil servants
  • UK armed forces

Mission

BSC is one of the three pillars that contribute to developing personnel with the ‘intellectual edge’ to thrive in an increasingly complex and ambiguous operating environment.

The portfolio includes short courses delivered face-to-face, digitally and through blended learning from awareness to expert. It currently supports MOD’s professional pathways throughout an individual’s career, BSC courses cover:

  • project management
  • finance
  • commercial
  • logistics and support
  • acquisition assurance
  • environmental protection
  • engineering

The BSC also offers strategic programmes for senior leaders. The Strategic Business Programme provides future leaders with the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to run defence as a business in the 21st century. Our Defence Strategic Finance Programme offers an understanding of how the department manages money internally and the interface with key departments such as the Treasury and National Audit Office.

To ensure course delegates have access to some of the very latest thinking and expert facilitators, BSC draws on the expertise of our partners:

  • Cranfield University
  • the Institute of Directors
  • Explosive Learning Solutions
