About this course

The aim of the course is to give you a fundamental level awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion as a leadership function in supporting the Defence Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2018-2030 with a whole force concept of inclusion in the workplace.

Successful completion of the course is also a requirement prior to attending the Diversity and Inclusion Practitioner and/or Diversity and Inclusion Adviser course and has been designed with this in mind.

What you will learn

You will learn/develop an awareness of:

*the current Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and single-Service policies and initiatives that support the whole force concept for inclusion within the workplace
*the 9 protected characteristics within the Equality Act 2010 and the different types of discrimination
*the requirements under the Public Sector Equality Duty and how it links to the service test and the MOD’s values and standards
*what constitutes unacceptable behaviours. Including bullying, harassment, sex harassment and sexual harassment
*what equality, diversity and inclusion means
*the informal and formal bullying, harassment and discrimination complaints procedures within the MOD, including the mediation process
*the service complaints ombudsman and its role
*the confidential helplines and support available to all MOD personnel
*the demographics of the UK and the MOD

Completion of Diversity and Inclusion Fundamentals Course with pass mark of at least 80%.
