This is an evidence-based 1-day workshop designed for defence senior leaders tasked with creating a positive environment in which a mentally fit, resilient and productive workforce can thrive.
Drawing on the PERMA model of positive psychology, concepts are explored through a combination of self-reflection and peer engagement. The workshop aims to promote greater understanding of the importance of mental fitness and resilience for leaders themselves, and of role-modelling and embedding conducive conditions in their organisations.
Please note that the Leading Diverse and Inclusive Organisations (LDIO) Workshop, mandatory every 3 years for OF6-OF9 military officers and senior civil servants, is also available for booking and complements the SLMFR learning experience. SLMFR applicants are asked to note the following points:
- access to the Defence Learning Environment (DLE) is a fundamental requirement
- the online platform used is MS Teams and can be accessed via MODNet devices
- Pre-workshop study on the DLE (max 2 hrs) is essential as it contributes to the workshop
Through facilitated discussion, you will:
- understand the importance of mental fitness and resilience for individual and team/organisational performance
- explore how to maximise personal and team/organisational mental fitness and resilience
- reflect on personal experiences and approaches to leadership and discuss these with defence peers
- identify actionable ways to apply the PERMA components presented to further develop personal and team/organisational mental fitness and resilience
