About this course

This course is an opportunity for non-native English language instructors working in defence to improve their teaching and testing skills.

Areas covered include classroom management, teaching methodologies, exploiting materials, and best practice for NATO STANAG 6001 English language assessments.  Participants have the chance to carry out experimental practice and observe lessons taking place on the British Military English Course.

Participants are not formally assessed, but continuous feedback is given when peer-teaching practice occurs. This is a 4-week course, delivered in February each year.

Before you attend

Participants are expected to have at least NATO-STANAG Level 3 or IELTS 6.5 in terms of their own language competence, together with at least a year’s experience teaching English in the defence context.
