We look forward to welcoming you to the Defence College for Military Capability Integration.
The Defence College for Military Capability Integration (DCMCI) is one of two colleges at the Defence Academy. DCMCI aims to strengthen the technological edge and decision advantage across the defence enterprise.
DCMCI provides course members from the UK and its partner nations with the defence and security training and education they need to maintain and advance warfighting capability. They partner with Cranfield University, Think Tank and industry partners, including the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory. DCMCI continually review its curricula to ensure they keep up to date with and exploit new technology.

Photography by the Defence Academy
To mark your visit, our Communications Team may ask to take photos of you while you are here. These photos will be used on the Defence Academy’s, and possibly MOD’s, website, social media, and internal communications systems to showcase the visit.
If a photographer is present during your visit, they will make themselves known to you. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let the photographer know. They will be able to anonymise photos (e.g. by only including backs of heads) or may decide not to cover the visit at all.
If photos are planned for external use, you may request digital copies of the photos taken during your visit. Due to MOD licencing rules, these will need to be attributed to ‘Crown Copyright’.
Taking photos yourself
If agreed with your visit sponsor, you are welcome to take your own photos in areas of DCMCI activity. For security reasons, there are areas within the college (such as the Technology Hub, Defence WOME Engineering School, and Defence Cyber Academy) where photography is not routinely permitted. If you wish to take photographs, your visit sponsor will be happy to advise you where you may do so. We ask that you do not take photos of classified information, classified training aids, or people who have not given you their explicit permission to be photographed.
Please note, different areas of Shrivenham Station have different rules surrounding photography. If you visit areas other than those listed above, please check the photography rules with your visit sponsor before taking photos.
Sharing your visit
We encourage you to publicise your visit to the DCMCI. For security reasons, we ask that you do not post publicly about your visit beforehand. However, once you have left Shrivenham Station, we look forward to seeing your coverage on social media (unless there are specific sensitivities told to you by your sponsor).
You can engage with the Defence Academy on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, or LinkedIn. To request copies of photos or official quotes from Defence Academy representatives, please contact the Communications Team via the ‘Contact us’ form, selecting ‘Media enquiry’ on our website. They will be happy to assist before and after your visit.
In a typical year, DCMCI facilitates training and education for over 10,000 course members (postgraduates, short course and masters modules). Of those course members, 230 from 10 different countries, choose DCMCI to study with for postgraduate degrees.
DCMCI has produced 20 International Defence Training postgraduates from 10 different countries.
Course members and visitors to DCMCI have an exclusive opportunity to get up close and personal with multiple examples of military assets and static training aids in the Technology Hub. Some examples are:
- its oldest asset, the 9.2-inch artillery breech dating back to 1889
- its rarest asset, the split Leopard battle tank, cut in half by the Royal Ordnance in 1985, showcases the internal working parts of the vehicle
- representation of over 20 different countries' military assets, as of January 2025
