Members of the Learning Capability and Development Group (LCaD) have attended the latest NATO Training Technology Conference (NTCC) in Türkiye.

Held in Istanbul between 9-12 September, the Defence Academy party consisted of Mike Wadley (Head of LCaD), Commander Nicola Cullen (Learning Development Adviser), and Squadron Leader Vicki Stewart (Defence Centre for Training Support). They were joined by Defence Academy partners Nicki Gray and Richie Ward from EY (formerly known as Ernst and Young).

Titled ‘Transforming training: digital, distributed, and interoperable,’ this year’s event allowed the Defence Academy team to participate in a variety of presentations, panel discussions and seminars.

For the first time the conference merged two NATO working groups – the NATO Learning Technology and Interoperability Group, and the Partnerships for Peace Advanced Distributed Learning Consortium, which allowed for enhanced cohesion across all 130 participants — representing 29 countries, including Ukraine.

Mike Wadley joined a panel discussion on 'Innovating resilient military training'. This was followed by the launch of the Multinational Capability Development Campaign’s
defence training resilience maturity model, created in collaboration with EY.

The Defence Academy and NATO training partners will evaluate the model over the next couple of months before final adoption by NATO in Spring 2026.
