The Defence College for Military Capability Integration (DCMCI) is proud to celebrate the graduation of students from Ammunition Technician Courses 110 and 111.
This milestone event marks the successful completion of the educational phase of the most technically demanding phase 2 training program within the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC).
As is now tradition, The Worshipful Company of Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers attended the graduation ceremony to present a decanter to the top student from each course.
The award recognises exceptional academic performance and serves as a fitting acknowledgement of the dedication and hard work demonstrated throughout the initial phase of the course.
Lieutenant Colonel Sparkes, Commanding Officer of the Defence WOME Engineering School, added:
“Congratulations to the graduates, it has been a busy and demanding seven weeks, although the intensity steps up another level in the final stage of their training to become Ammunition Technicians. I have every faith, given Course 111 was an extremely strong cohort with the lowest average score being 81.7%.”
The Ammunition Technician Course is an intensive 26-week program for phase 2 trainees. It provides rigorous, in-depth training on weapons, ordnance, munitions and explosives (WOME), encompassing storage, transportation, distribution and disposal of energetic substances, alongside an introduction to explosive ordnance disposal.
Delivered by DCMCI, in partnership with Cranfield University, the initial 7-week phase of the course provides students with a comprehensive technical foundation across a range of specialist subjects, including:
- explosive chemistry
- ballistics
- mechanics and electronics
- ammunition systems
- ammunition design
This breadth of knowledge equips students with the expertise and confidence to operate effectively and safely in complex, high-stakes environments.
Congratulations to all the Ammunition Technician graduates, whose achievement reflects not only individual commitment, but the vital role they will play in sustaining operational capability for Defence.
