Our purpose is to help those who study with us and their nations to develop the ‘intellectual edge’ needed to run successful government departments and military operations. The ‘intellectual edge’ is the ability to think better and faster than our adversaries, both now and in the future. Our graduates must be capable of simplifying complexity, grasping subtlety and be comfortable with ambiguity.

Based in beautiful surroundings at a secure site in Shrivenham, the Defence Academy is located 80 miles west of London, close to Swindon with its excellent rail links.
